McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, sustaining the promotion that initially started on June 25. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations across the United States have agreed to continue this offer, with about 93% of restaurants participating. However, the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some restaurants opting to keep it going until August.
As consumers navigate rising food costs, especially in the fast-casual dining sector, the $5 bundle has proved beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the deal, indicating its popularity among patrons.
In response to McDonald’s success, other fast-casual chains are launching their own promotions. Arby’s introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has created a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell is offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box and continues to promote its $5 Taco Discovery Box alongside its Cravings Value Menu.
Earlier in May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period compared to McDonald’s deal, along with new items on its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo dubbed the “Biggie Bag.”
