McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most of the U.S.-based McDonald’s franchises have agreed to continue this promotion beyond the initial four-week period that began on June 25.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of the restaurant locations across the nation, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location. Some outlets have chosen to extend the offer into August.
This move comes as consumers, facing increased food prices, especially in fast casual dining options, are looking for affordable meal choices. The $5 meal deal has proven effective for McDonald’s, with a significant increase in foot traffic reported by analytics firm Placer.ai shortly after the promotion’s launch, indicating strong consumer interest.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to introduce their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell is also participating, offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” will continue longer than McDonald’s deal, and the franchise recently introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the value game with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
