McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following an initial four-week promotion that began on June 25. According to reports, most of the U.S.-based McDonald’s locations will continue to offer this bundle, which will be available in about 93% of restaurants across the country. However, the duration of the promotion may differ depending on the location, with some restaurants planning to keep the deal until August.

As consumers face higher food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the $5 bundle has proven to be beneficial for McDonald’s. An analysis conducted by foot traffic firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations after the introduction of the deal, indicating that it is successfully attracting consumers.

The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own competitive offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent value menu priced at $1.99. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In addition, Burger King recently announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s promotion and has introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the competitive landscape, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and launching a $5 combo named the “Biggie Bag.”
