Fast food leader McDonald’s has announced that its $5 meal deal will be available for an extended period, continuing to appeal to budget-conscious consumers facing rising food prices, especially in casual dining. According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, many McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to extend the popular promotion beyond its original four-week timeframe, which began on June 25.

The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the nation, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some franchises opting to keep the deal going until August.

Data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealed a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s outlets following the introduction of this meal deal, indicating its popularity among diners.

This initiative comes as other fast casual dining chains are prompted to respond with competitive offers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King also entered the fray in late May, confirming that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offer. Additionally, Wendy’s has rolled out a $3 breakfast bundle along with a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag,” joining the mix of promotional deals in the market.
