McDonald’s has announced that it will continue its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to extend the promotion, which initially began on June 25 for a four-week period.
The $5 meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, with the duration of the promotion differing by location, and some franchises extending it until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s deal has been beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in visitors to McDonald’s after the launch of the meal bundle, highlighting its appeal to customers.
In response to McDonald’s success, other fast casual dining chains are jumping into the competition. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced its $7 Luxe Cravings Box and continues to offer its $5 Taco Discovery Box alongside its Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King has also extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond the initial period and added new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the campaign with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
