McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal: A Lifeline for Budget Diners!

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, responding to consumer demand amid rising food prices. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have opted to keep the promotion running past its initial four-week launch date, which began on June 25.

The meal deal will be available in approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the specific duration of the offer may vary by location, with some extending it until August.

With consumers facing tighter budgets, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, the bundle has proven successful, contributing to increased customer traffic. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant rise in visits to McDonald’s outlets shortly after the deal was introduced.

The popularity of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own deals. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Earlier this year, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond the original McDonald’s offering and also announced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
