McDonald’s has announced that its $5 meal deal will continue for several more weeks, extending beyond its original four-week promotion that began on June 25. A report from Bloomberg revealed that most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have chosen to maintain the offer, which will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants. However, the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some extending it into August.
As consumers face rising food prices and seek budget-friendly dining options, the $5 bundle has proven successful for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the meal deal led to a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted competitors in the fast casual dining sector to respond with their own deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also added a $7 Luxe Cravings Box and a $5 Taco Discovery Box, alongside its existing Cravings Value Menu.
In the competitive landscape, Burger King previously announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would run longer than McDonald’s promotion, alongside new items from its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s joined the fray with its $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
