Mbappé’s Milestone Moment: First Goal with Real Madrid in Super Cup Triumph

Kylian Mbappé made his mark at Real Madrid, scoring his first goal in a 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup held in Warsaw, Poland, on August 14, 2024. This match featured the champions of the Champions League, Real Madrid, and the Europa League winners, Atalanta, as they prepared for their upcoming domestic league seasons.

The first half was subdued, highlighted only by Vinícius Júnior’s shot that hit the post. However, Real Madrid shifted gears early in the second half. Federico Valverde put the team ahead in the 59th minute, and just nine minutes later, Mbappé extended their lead.

Jude Bellingham delivered a precise pass to Mbappé, who skillfully finished from inside the box, sending the ball into the top right corner for his inaugural goal with the club.

Wearing the iconic No. 9 jersey, previously donned by Real Madrid legends like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, the 25-year-old French forward played the full match, contributing to the team’s sixth UEFA Super Cup triumph.

Mbappé joined Real Madrid in June after a successful seven-year stint with Paris Saint-Germain, where he secured six Ligue 1 titles and four Coupe de France victories while also helping the team reach the 2019-20 Champions League final. At Real Madrid, he is expected to earn $16 million annually, bolstered by a signing bonus exceeding $100 million, and joins a squad rich in talent, including Vinícius Júnior, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Luka Modrić.

Real Madrid will face Mallorca next as they kick off their La Liga campaign, aiming for their 37th title and fifth since the 2016-17 season.
