Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has traveled to Paris for further tests and treatment regarding his persistent left knee injury, but his representatives have indicated that surgery is not currently being contemplated. The 27-year-old has been dealing with discomfort in his knee since December, which has caused him to miss several key matches, including the recent La Liga victory over Real Sociedad on February 14 and the Supercopa de España semi-final against Atletico Madrid on January 8.

The last match Mbappe participated in was a 2-1 defeat to Osasuna on February 21, and he will also sit out the upcoming fixture against Getafe on Monday as part of a mutual decision with the club to conduct additional assessments on his injury. According to his camp, the focus remains on evaluating the progress of the injury without considering an operative procedure at this stage.

Real Madrid has confirmed that the current conservative treatment for Mbappe’s sprained left knee is appropriate and the effectiveness of this course will depend on his recovery trajectory. Club sources echoed the sentiment that surgery is not on the table right now.

Coach Alvaro Arbeloa acknowledged last Sunday the uncertainty surrounding Mbappe’s availability for the Champions League round-of-16 first leg against Manchester City, scheduled for March 11. He emphasized the need for Mbappe to fully recover from his injury so that he can return to the pitch 100% fit. Arbeloa stated, “When he feels totally recovered and that discomfort has disappeared, we’ll see if he can play against Man City.”

So far this season, Mbappe has proven to be instrumental for Real Madrid, netting 38 goals in 33 matches, and contributing an additional eight goals for the French national team. His scoring prowess is only surpassed by Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, who has tallied 60 goals across club and international competitions.

As the World Cup approaches, where France is set to face Senegal on June 16, the team hopes to have their star player back at full strength and ready to lead them on the global stage.
