Maxton Hall Season 2 Teases Raw Grief and a Lighter Season 3

Damian Hardung faced significant emotional challenges while filming the second season of “Maxton Hall,” as his character, James Beaufort, dealt with the aftermath of his mother’s death and complicated romantic relationships. The 27-year-old actor admitted that the emotional weight of the season was so intense that he was relieved to have completed it, stating, “I wouldn’t want to do that again.”

The season finale, which aired on November 28, capped off a gripping six-episode arc based on Mona Kasten’s bestselling “Save Me” trilogy. Hardung reflected on the darker themes explored in season two, which required a deeper exploration of grief. “It was going to be much bleaker, but also more honest… and more grown up,” he explained. The character’s journey through the stages of grief added layers of complexity to the storytelling, allowing the show to resonate on a much deeper level.

Hardung found himself in a constant emotional state throughout filming. “It felt like there were tears in every scene,” he noted. His co-star, Harriet Herbig-Matten, who portrays Ruby Bell, also experienced the emotional intensity but managed to separate her feelings from those of her character. “Honestly, I think I really had a good time,” she shared, emphasizing her preparation and comfort in navigating the challenging material.

As for season three, which has already been renewed, Hardung is looking for a shift in tone. “They have to do season three much more funny… it’s going to be only comedy,” he suggested with a hopeful outlook that season three will offer a lighter approach and balance the emotions from the previous season.

Fans can catch the emotional journey of James and Ruby in “Maxton Hall” season two, now streaming on Prime Video, as they eagerly await what the next chapter holds for these beloved characters.
