Local parent Unaisi Bola expressed her relief at the new opportunities this school will provide, stating, “Our family had planned for our child to go to Viti Levu for education; however, with the opening of the new school, he will now attend Matuku Secondary School as a Form 3 student this year.” This sentiment is echoed by parent Lincoln Saint John, who noted that previous generations had to send their children to live with relatives on the mainland, often facing issues of unequal treatment.
