Tyrann Mathieu has expressed strong support for rookie quarterback Tyler Shough, urging the New Orleans Saints to focus on building their future around him. After Shough played a pivotal role in leading the Saints to an unexpected road victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mathieu reiterated his belief during a recent episode of his podcast, “In The Bayou.” He took to social media to encourage Saints fans to rally behind Shough, emphasizing the importance of embracing him as the franchise’s quarterback for the next decade.

Mathieu lauded Shough’s performance, even if his statistics weren’t eye-catching. “He showed me something today!!!” Mathieu declared online. “His numbers won’t wow you but it’s the critical situation football he’s winning! This city should absolutely get behind him & embrace him as QB for (the) next decade!!”

However, Mathieu believes supporting Shough goes beyond fan enthusiasm. He insists the Saints must bolster the young quarterback’s roster with better offensive weapons and a strong defense. “Get him some weapons & a good defense! Saints aren’t far off from bouncing back & competing in this division!” Mathieu remarked.

Shough’s recent contributions have been noteworthy, especially given the challenges he has faced early in his career. He will look to continue proving himself this Sunday in a matchup against the Carolina Panthers. A strong performance against both top teams in the NFC South in consecutive weeks would significantly strengthen Mathieu’s case for Shough as the team’s cornerstone quarterback.

The Saints are poised to support their new quarterback as they look to solidify their future and become competitive in the division once again. With the right investment in Shough and the roster, the team could be on the verge of a promising turnaround.
