BrucePac has expanded its recent poultry and meat recall to include nearly ten million pounds of ready-to-eat products due to the presence of listeria, affecting popular items sold at Trader Joe’s and other grocery stores.

The Food Service Inspection Service (FSIS) initially announced the recall on Tuesday, covering 9,986,245 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products produced at BrucePac’s Oklahoma plant. The recalled items include grilled chicken breast strips, chicken in frozen meals, and pre-packaged salads and sandwiches distributed to restaurants and food service providers across the country.

The recall was prompted after U.S. Department of Agriculture officials found listeria in poultry samples during normal testing procedures.

In total, the recall includes approximately 75 different meat and chicken products. A complete list of item codes has been made available. The affected products were manufactured between June 19 and October 8 and have a best-by date ranging from June 19, 2025, to October 8, 2025. Authorities are concerned that these items may still be available for consumption or may be stored in personal refrigerators or freezers, and they advise discarding the products.

Currently, no illnesses linked to this recall have been confirmed, according to officials.

The recalled products also encompass several frozen meals branded under H-E-B, as well as HMS chicken alfredo and pre-packaged salads featuring chicken sold under labels such as “Fresh Express,” “Marketside,” and “Little Salad Bar.” Among the recalled items available at Trader Joe’s are the Turkey Club Wrap, Lemon and Chicken Arugula Salad, and the Tarragon Chicken Wrap.

Listeria infections can lead to symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, and fatigue, with more severe symptoms like stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions potentially occurring in vulnerable populations, including the elderly, immunocompromised individuals, and pregnant women.

This recall follows a recent report of the tenth death linked to a separate, extensive listeria recall involving Boars Head deli meats, which has affected at least 59 individuals across 19 states and resulted in the closure of a processing plant in Virginia.
