A hacker has exposed nearly 10 billion passwords in what is being considered possibly the largest leak of its kind ever. The user, known as “ObamaCare,” posted the passwords in a file named “RockYou2024” on an online hacking forum on July 4, according to Cybernews. This incident has raised concerns that other hackers could potentially use the leaked data for cyber attacks. The enormous dataset includes 1.5 billion new plain text passwords obtained from data leaks, adding to a previous compilation posted in the same forum in 2021, which was titled “RockYou2021.”
