Nearly 7,000 pounds of hot dogs have been recalled due to being produced without federal inspection, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
AW Farms, based in Argillite, Kentucky, initiated the recall after discovering the hot dogs had not undergone federal inspection. These products were produced on various dates after May 30 and were distributed to restaurants and hotels in Ohio and West Virginia.
The recalled hot dog products include:
10-lb boxes containing two 5-lb vacuum-packed packages labeled “FRENCH CITY FOODS 6” 12-1 HOTDOGS”
10-lb boxes containing two 5-lb vacuum-packed packages of frozen “PORK, BEEF, DEXTROSE, SALT, SUGAR MAPLE GEO BROWN ALL MEAT HOTDOGS”
10-lb boxes containing two 5-lb vacuum-packed packages of frozen “GEO BROWN ALL BEEF HOTDOGS”
The recall was prompted by a state public health partner notifying the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) about the issue. The subsequent investigation confirmed the hot dogs were produced and distributed without a federal inspection.
As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from consuming these hot dogs. However, the USDA advises anyone concerned about their health after eating one of the recalled products to contact a healthcare provider.
Businesses are urged not to serve the recalled hot dogs and to either dispose of them or return them.
