As the draws for “Lucky for Life” come to a close, a Massachusetts player struck it rich by winning $25,000 a year for life during the latest drawing on Sunday. This notable win comes as the multi-state lottery game prepares to end its 14-year run, with its final drawing scheduled for February 21, 2026. The winning numbers drawn on February 1 were 2, 6, 10, 22, 47, with the Lucky Ball being 17.

The winning ticket was purchased at Player’s Cafe in Hyde Park, Boston, marking a significant moment for the local community. In addition to this life-changing win, another lucky player secured $100,000 from the “Mass Cash” drawing, with their ticket bought from Lowell Street Market in Peabody, where the winning numbers were 2, 4, 5, 8, and 34.

“Lucky for Life” has been a fixture in Massachusetts for over a decade, but it will soon be replaced by a new game called “Millionaire for Life,” set to launch on February 22 at 11:15 p.m. “Millionaire for Life” will feature a grand prize of $1 million a year for life and a second-tier prize of $100,000 annually for life, with players receiving a guaranteed 20-year payout or the option for a lump sum. The new game will have better odds for players, with overall odds of 1 in 8.47 for winning any prize, while the odds of claiming the grand prize will be 1 in 22.9 million.

Mark William Bracken, the Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery, noted that while there were concerns regarding a price increase associated with the new game, which will cost $5 per ticket, the aim was to create an advanced product that merges existing games for an enhanced player experience.

With the closure of one chapter and the opening of another, players can look forward with excitement to the new possibilities offered by “Millionaire for Life.” The hope is that it will provide even more chances for life-changing wins, continuing the tradition of lottery excitement in Massachusetts and beyond.
