Among the jurisdictions named in the Homeland Security list are the state of Maryland, eight counties, and ten municipalities, with Baltimore City noted as a focal point of resistance. Mayor Brandon Scott of Baltimore has expressed the city’s commitment to being a welcoming place for immigrants, stating that Baltimore does not fit the definition of a sanctuary city due to its adherence to federal immigration law regarding jails.
