He emphasized the intricate design of the costume, noting the articulateness of the gauntlet and hands that allowed for expressive movements.
Garner shared her preparation for the Silver Surfer role, which included motion-capture techniques and surf lessons to internalize the character’s gracefulness. To master balance, she practiced yoga and learned from a surf instructor about distributing her weight correctly on the board.
Ineson also discussed the challenge of finding the right vocal tone for Galactus, striving for a voice that feels vast and industrial rather than simply deep. He worked to create vocal sounds that would resonate with the character’s imposing nature.
Garner revealed that understanding her character, Shalla-Bal, involved connecting with her emotional depth and complexities. She cited listening to T.S. Eliot’s poetry as a significant influence in shaping her voice for the role.
Both actors found special moments on set, such as the intricately designed Times Square backdrop and pieces like Johnny Storm’s headphones, which Ineson comically expressed a desire to own.
