Marvel Studios has faced challenges in bringing its Blade reboot to life, with the film starring Mahershala Ali experiencing several changes in writers and directors as the team seeks the ideal storyline. Actor Mia Goth, who has also joined the cast, believes that this lengthy development process is ultimately beneficial for the project. “It’s for the best that it’s taken the time that it has,” Goth shared with Elle. “They want to do it right.”

Originally announced in the summer of 2019, Blade marks a significant return for the character first portrayed by Wesley Snipes. Despite the anticipation surrounding Ali’s depiction, interest has largely centered on Snipes’ original portrayal, particularly following his appearance in the MCU alongside Deadpool and Wolverine. In contrast, Ali’s Blade has only made a fleeting appearance through an offscreen voice in the post-credits scene of 2021’s Eternals, which faced its own set of challenges and was met with mixed reviews.

Since the project’s announcement, Blade has encountered numerous obstacles. The initial plot, which involved flashbacks to the early 20th century, ultimately fell through, forcing Marvel to repurpose the period costumes for Ryan Coogler’s upcoming film, Sinners. There remains uncertainty about the film’s ultimate direction, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has reassured fans that Blade is still in development.

While skepticism looms among fans, it appears Marvel is fully committed to ensuring the reboot meets the high expectations set by its legacy. In the meantime, fans are encouraged to stay informed about other Marvel movies and shows currently in the pipeline, as the studio continues to expand its cinematic universe.
