NetEase Games has exciting news for players of its free-to-play title, Marvel Rivals, as it is set to introduce the much-anticipated cross-progression feature in the coming weeks. Creative Director Guangguang confirmed that this has been a “top priority” for the development team, who have been hard at work to ensure a smooth rollout. The feature will debut for a select group of players alongside the release of Season 4.5 on October 10, with plans for a wider rollout in Season 5, provided the initial testing goes well.
With cross-progression, players will be able to carry over their unlocked and purchased skins and emotes across different platforms, allowing for greater flexibility for gamers who enjoy switching between their Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, or PlayStation 5. However, it’s important to note that player ranks and leaderboards will remain distinct based on the platform. To utilize cross-progression, players can easily link their accounts through the game settings, although there will be an undisclosed cooldown period for changing the primary account.
In addition to the cross-progression feature, Marvel Rivals Season 4.5 will introduce Daredevil as a new playable character, positioned as a Duelist. While players may have been hoping for another Vanguard, the addition of this iconic character promises to bring fresh gameplay to fans. The upcoming season will also feature a Halloween-themed event, complete with spooky skins for beloved characters such as Blade, Jeff the Land Shark, and Peni Parker. While the final designs remain under wraps, the concept art has sparked excitement among fans.
Furthermore, players can look forward to balance changes, including the removal of the Ragnarok Rebirth team-up and updates to existing characters, such as Hela teaming up with Namor. A new game mode is also anticipated, with details set to be revealed at the Thailand Game Show on October 12.
The introduction of cross-progression is part of a growing trend in the gaming industry, as developers recognize the importance of allowing players to seamlessly transition between platforms. For those who frequently play on multiple devices, this feature will enhance the overall gaming experience and elevate player engagement.
Marvel Rivals is currently available as a free-to-play title across various platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. With these upcoming updates, fans have much to look forward to in the world of Marvel Rivals.
