Veteran figure skating duo Madison Chock and Evan Bates are preparing for their fourth Olympic appearance, following their marriage in June 2024, which they say has strengthened their partnership both personally and professionally.
In a recent interview with E! News, Chock expressed that their commitment to each other has deepened through their marriage, enhancing their connection on and off the ice. “I think it just really solidified our commitment to each other and our commitment to our craft,” she shared, highlighting the bond that they have built over years of skating together.
Although they secured a team gold medal with the U.S. figure skating team at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, the couple is still striving for their first Olympic medal as a pair. Bates reflected on their journey, emphasizing the hard work they have dedicated to their craft. “We’re working hard and putting in the hours… but we’re so grateful for each day and for the opportunity,” he stated.
As they approach what could be their final Olympic competition, both skaters acknowledge the emotional weight of the experience. Bates noted the nostalgia that accompanies their 15-year skating journey but emphasized the importance of enjoying the moment. “We’ve tried to not get too emotional… The ultimate payback is to skate well, but we also want to just enjoy that moment, because it’s fleeting and it could very well be the last,” he shared during the 2026 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships, where they clinched a gold medal.
Recently, the couple added to their accolades with gold in the figure skating team event on February 8, as well as a silver in the ice dance competition, a testament to their talent and perseverance. As they prepare for the upcoming Olympics, Chock and Bates embody the spirit of dedication and partnership, making them an inspiring story in the world of figure skating.
