The Marine Expeditionary Force is set to conduct a live-fire Amphibious Capabilities Demonstration at Camp Pendleton’s Red Beach on Saturday, marking a significant occasion as the U.S. Marine Corps celebrates its 250th anniversary alongside America’s own 250th anniversary. The event, which was announced on Thursday, aims to showcase the collaborative operations between the Navy and Marine Corps across various terrains: air, land, and sea.
Noteworthy attendees expected at the demonstration include Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Vice President JD Vance, highlighting the importance of this occasion. According to a Camp Pendleton spokesperson, the activities are designed to reinforce the readiness of the force in protecting the homeland and addressing emerging challenges both domestically and internationally.
Prior to the event, extensive planning and a detailed risk assessment have been undertaken to ensure safety and preparedness. All participants will receive thorough briefings, and medical, fire, and emergency response personnel will be onsite throughout the demonstration. Officials also confirmed that the movements involved in the exercise are scripted and rehearsed in line with established safety procedures.
The event will culminate in a Beach Bash at Del Mar Beach, where Marines, Sailors, and their families will gather to celebrate the foundation of the Marine Corps — its people and the surrounding community. This celebration will feature food vendors, live music, static displays, and various family activities, emphasizing the camaraderie and unity within the Marine Corps family.
The demonstration is scheduled to be broadcasted on November 9, with production support from The White House Office. In anticipation of the event, several road closures have been announced to ensure smooth operations and safety. Key closures include restrictions on Del Mar Bridge, Las Pulgas Road, and various key intersections around Camp Pendleton, as well as ongoing closures on Basilone Road and Roblar Road.
As the military commemorates its prestigious history while preparing for future challenges, this event is a reminder of the continued dedication and service of the Marine Corps and its vital role in safeguarding the nation’s interests.
