Mariners Soar to Victory with Suárez’s Heroics and Record-Setting Performance

Eugenio Suárez made a notable impact in the Mariners’ victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night, contributing with a two-run homer in the fourth inning that broke a tie. This marked Suárez’s 37th home run of the season and his first since being reacquired by Seattle in a trade with Arizona.

Bryan Woo delivered an impressive performance on the mound, pitching seven innings and striking out nine batters, recording his first win since July 4. Woo’s consistency this season is remarkable, as he has managed to pitch at least six innings in each of his first 22 starts, setting a new franchise record.

In addition to Suárez, Josh Naylor and Dominic Canzone also homered for the Mariners, contributing to their fourth win in five games. Jorge Polanco had a standout day at the plate with two hits and two RBIs, helping to solidify the team’s lead.

The Mariners showcased their speed and aggressive base running with four stolen bases in a single inning, a rare achievement in franchise history, with the last occurrence happening back in 2004.

On the other hand, the White Sox struggled, with Davis Martin allowing six runs in just over five innings, leading to their second consecutive loss. Colson Montgomery and Luis Robert Jr. provided a late spark with back-to-back homers in the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.

Looking ahead, the teams are set for a rematch on Wednesday, with Jonathan Cannon starting for Chicago and George Kirby taking the mound for Seattle.

This recent victory demonstrates the Mariners’ growing momentum as they continue to perform well in the final stretch of the season.
