He noted that the pandemic has significantly altered people’s dining habits, leading to improved home cooking. As a result, patrons now seek enhanced dining experiences with exceptional service and ambiance when dining out.

Samuelsson emphasized the importance of community in his restaurant ventures, particularly at Red Rooster in Harlem, where live music adds to the atmosphere. He expressed pride in supporting local musicians and integrating cultural elements into his venues.

The chef’s transition to designing a home goods collection was driven by his creative passion. He explained that his experience as a chef has always involved collaboration, whether with architects or partners like West Elm. Samuelsson reflected positively on the collaboration, drawing inspiration from his father’s fishing village in Sweden and incorporating African motifs into the collection.

While Samuelsson has explored various creative outlets, he maintains that cooking remains his true passion, where he feels most confident and skilled. His love for cooking encompasses all aspects, from selecting ingredients to sharing meals with his family.
