Samuelsson emphasized how his restaurants, such as Red Rooster, are deeply connected to their neighborhoods, showcasing local culture and supporting community musicians. He believes in contributing meaningfully to the area before establishing a new venue.
On his collaboration with West Elm, he expressed pride in merging inspirations from his father’s fishing village in Sweden with vibrant prints from Africa into a cohesive collection. Samuelsson highlighted that while he has explored various artistic avenues, cooking remains his primary passion. He sees it as a craft he has mastered, unlike his other pursuits, where he still feels he is learning.
