Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson has made a significant impact in the culinary world, rising to prominence at a young age. In an exciting new venture, Samuelsson is partnering with West Elm to release a 32-piece home goods collection inspired by his Ethiopian and Scandinavian heritage, as well as his life experiences in New York City.

When discussing his restaurants, particularly Red Rooster in Harlem, Samuelsson emphasized the importance of community. His commitment extends to ensuring that his establishments contribute positively to their respective neighborhoods.

Samuelsson’s move into the design world with West Elm comes from his lifelong passion for creativity, which includes painting and writing. He described the collaboration as one of his most enjoyable experiences, highlighting the synergy between the creative philosophies of both himself and West Elm.

One of the proudest aspects of his West Elm collection is its blend of influences, featuring bright woods inspired by his father’s fishing village in Sweden along with prints from Africa, creating a cohesive collection that reflects his diverse background.

Despite his many creative pursuits, Samuelsson stated that cooking remains his main passion. He finds joy in every aspect of the culinary process, from shopping for ingredients to sharing meals with his family, affirming that cooking is where he feels most confident and accomplished.
