Marcus Moller, a new signee for the University of Michigan basketball program, is stepping away from his international club duties due to a recent diagnosis of testicular cancer. His current club, Unicaja, confirmed his situation in a statement saying, “In recent days, our Liga U player, Marcus Moller, has had to deal with a medical situation that has forced him to temporarily stop playing sports. After undergoing medical tests, he has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. The young Dane is currently in his home country, where he is receiving medical treatment, accompanied by his family. The Club sends him our full support so that he can focus all his efforts on his recovery.”

In solidarity with Moller, the Michigan basketball program expressed their unwavering support, stating, “We want Marcus to know that he will not face this alone, as so many people are thinking of him and sending him strength every single day. While he focuses on his health and recovery, we truly look forward to having Marcus with us in Ann Arbor this summer and are beyond excited for his future as a Wolverine.”

Moller committed to Michigan in July and is part of a three-player incoming class including Quinn Costello and Joseph Hartman. This season, he has shown promise as a player, averaging 11.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for Unicaja’s Liga U under-22 team over 12 games.

The support from both his club and the Michigan basketball community highlights a positive and hopeful outlook as Moller embarks on his recovery journey. His talent and determination on the court leave many excited for his eventual return to the game.
