Marcello Hernández, known for his role as The Movie Guy on “Weekend Update,” is set to make his mark in the film industry with a significant live-action debut alongside Kevin Hart in the Netflix movie titled “72 Hours.” As reported by Variety, Hernández will take on a major supporting role, portraying the Best Man at a bachelor party that unexpectedly includes a 40-year-old executive, played by Hart, after a mix-up with a group text.

This announcement marks a high point in Hernández’s career, which has seen a surge in visibility this year. His viral character Domingo on SNL has garnered attention, earning him an honorary Webby Award. Additionally, he has made guest appearances in series such as FX/Hulu’s “Dying for Sex” and is expected to lend his voice to the upcoming “Angry Birds 3.”

While Hart is a familiar face on SNL, having hosted the show three times, he has yet to share the stage with Hernández, who joined the cast just three years ago. This trend of SNL cast members transitioning into significant film roles continues, with recent examples including Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang.

The film, co-produced by Sony, has not yet had a release date announced. However, it’s anticipated that “72 Hours” could serve as Hernández’s entrance into feature films, especially with “Angry Birds 3” not set to release until 2027. With this exciting news, Hernández’s promising career trajectory holds great potential, signaling a bright future ahead in the entertainment industry.
