Filipino-Canadian actor Manny Jacinto is gearing up for a visit to the Philippines to promote his upcoming film “Freakier Friday.” In a recent interview with Filipino-American journalist Yong Chavez, shared on CBO Channel’s X account, Jacinto expressed his excitement, saying, “Hi, Philippines! I will be coming to visit to promote the film, Freakier Friday. I hope to see you guys there soon.”
While the specific dates of his trip remain unconfirmed, Jacinto mentioned that he is currently practicing Tagalog, a skill he consistently works on to connect with his Filipino roots.
In “Freakier Friday,” Jacinto takes on the role of Eric Reyes, a chef and single father, alongside Lindsay Lohan. This sequel is a follow-up to the 2003 hit featuring Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. Jacinto’s rising stardom has been notable, particularly his role as Jason Mendoza in the acclaimed series “The Good Place.” He also voiced the character Maliksi in Netflix’s “Trese,” alongside Liza Soberano.
Previously, Jacinto made headlines for his appearance as Qimir in the Star Wars series “The Acolyte” and had a role in “Top Gun: Maverick,” despite having some of his lines cut. This experience ignited his desire to collaborate with Filipino writers and producers in future projects.
Looking forward, Jacinto is set to star in the upcoming thriller dramas “The Knife” and “Balestra.” “Freakier Friday” is scheduled to hit Philippine theaters on August 6, marking a significant moment for Jacinto as he seeks to strengthen ties with his heritage through his artistry.
This visit not only highlights Jacinto’s commitment to his roots but also brings an inspiring representation of the Filipino talent in Hollywood. His enthusiasm for his upcoming projects and connections to Filipino culture paint a hopeful picture for both fans and aspiring artists alike.
