Mangiapane Signs with Oilers: A Fresh Start for the Forward?

Andrew Mangiapane has officially joined the Edmonton Oilers, signing a two-year contract valued at $7.2 million, as announced by the team. This deal features an average annual value of $3.6 million.

The 29-year-old forward showcased his skills during the 2024-25 season with the Washington Capitals, where he played 81 games and netted 14 goals, contributing to a total of 28 points along with a goal and an assist in 10 playoff contests. Prior to his time with the Capitals, Mangiapane spent seven seasons with the Calgary Flames, who selected him in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.

Despite experiencing a standout season with the Flames in 2021-22, where he recorded a career-high of 35 goals and 55 points, Mangiapane has struggled to find the back of the net consistently since. His new opportunity with the Oilers may provide a fresh start for the forward, who will look to rekindle his scoring prowess and contribute significantly to a team eager to enhance its roster.

As the Oilers aim for continued success, Mangiapane’s addition could be a beneficial move in boosting their forward depth. With his playoffs experience and talent, he has the potential to make a positive impact on the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
