Manchester City is set to face Sparta Prague in UEFA Champions League action at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday for matchday three of the group stage. Pep Guardiola’s squad has had an impressive start to the season, remaining unbeaten across all competitions and currently sitting as the only unbeaten team in the Premier League after a recent 2-1 victory against Wolves. This follows Arsenal’s loss to Bournemouth, further solidifying City’s position.
In the Champions League, after a goalless draw against Inter Milan in their first match, Manchester City rebounded with a commanding 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia. The team is now looking for another strong performance against Sparta Prague before shifting focus back to the Premier League, where they will host Southampton on Saturday.
Sparta Prague has also started their season well in the Czech league, ranking second behind Slavia Prague with eight wins, one draw, and two losses from their first eleven matches.
However, City will be without several key players due to injuries, including Oscar Bobb, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, and Kyle Walker, who is sidelined with a knee injury sustained during the international break. Additionally, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku were absent from training on Tuesday, leaving their availability for the match uncertain.
The confirmed line-ups for both teams have yet to be disclosed ahead of tonight’s kick-off.
