Earlier this year, Kunawave had the opportunity to return to Fiji with the New Zealand Development side to participate in the prestigious McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament, where he was able to reconnect with his grandmother after seven years apart. Leaving Fiji to pursue a scholarship in New Zealand at the age of 13, Kunawave has developed his skills significantly, culminating in his representation of New Zealand at the World Rugby Under 20 Championship earlier this year and a successful season with the Tasman Mako.
The Crusaders organization has high expectations for Kunawave, highlighting his dynamic playing style and Fijian flair as key attributes that will add a fresh approach to the backline.
