Frankie Muniz has announced on social media that filming for the much-anticipated revival of “Malcolm in the Middle” for Disney+ has officially wrapped. Reflecting on the experience, Muniz expressed how it reignited his passion for acting and left him eager for more projects in the future.
In his message, Muniz described the filming as a memorable journey, filled with the love and chaotic energy reminiscent of the original series. He said, “Reuniting with the cast, getting to know some new characters, laughing till it hurt, and making new memories on set felt like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from. It went by so fast, like a blur of perfect moments. I wish it could go on forever.” He added, “I’m so happy to have gotten the chance to relive being on this show with a greater appreciation of what we were making knowing how many people around the world truly love Malcolm and his family.”
The revival will feature only four episodes, following Malcolm, portrayed by Muniz, and his daughter as they navigate the family chaos during Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek)’s 40th wedding anniversary. Linwood Boomer, the original creator, returned to write the series, while Ken Kwapis is set to direct all episodes.
Alongside Muniz, original cast members Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield reprise their roles as brothers Francis and Reese. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark takes over as Dewey, and Vaughan Murrae joins the cast as Kelly, Lois’s baby, described as “self-sufficient” and “already wiser than most of the family.”
This revival not only reunites beloved characters but also demonstrates the enduring legacy of “Malcolm in the Middle,” connecting generations of fans. Muniz’s renewed excitement for acting opens the door for a range of future opportunities, showcasing a hopeful continuation of his career in the entertainment industry.
