Developer Sloclap has rolled out the first significant update for its popular title, Rematch. This patch, while not introducing crossplay—though progress is being made toward that feature—focuses on several enhancements and fixes that improve overall gameplay experience.
One of the notable updates includes gamepad remapping functionality. Although this initial version is termed “quite basic,” Sloclap has plans to release a more comprehensive remapping option in future updates. The patch also rectifies issues with camera jitter during goal replays, as well as refining animations and addressing goalkeeper responsiveness to collisions with opponents. Furthermore, players can expect enhanced environmental and lighting effects.
In an effort to improve accessibility, Sloclap has introduced a Colourblind Mode that modifies team color selections for those with color vision deficiencies, specifically deuteranopia, protanopia, or tritanopia. The developer aims to expand this feature in subsequent patches, extending the color filter to affect the entire screen.
While the patch addresses several key issues, Sloclap acknowledges the existence of lingering bugs, such as the ball producing “loud wind sounds” at times, which might actually be perceived as more of a quirky feature than a traditional bug.
Excitingly, Sloclap’s Rematch has already surpassed 1 million sales within its first week, and with three million unique players engaging through its availability on Xbox’s Game Pass, it has quickly made a mark in the competitive gaming scene.
With the next patch anticipated in the upcoming two to three weeks, players are eager for more improvements. As one reviewer noted, Rematch offers a captivating online gaming experience despite the challenges posed by some less sportsmanlike players. This blend of competitive spirit and accessibility might just solidify Rematch as a staple in the online gaming community.
