The Vegas Golden Knights have announced a significant trade, sending defenseman Nic Hague to the Nashville Predators in exchange for center Colton Sissons and defenseman Jeremy Lauzon. According to reports by TSN’s Darren Dreger, this move marks a strategic shift for both teams.
As part of the trade, Hague, who won the Stanley Cup with the Golden Knights in 2023, will sign a four-year contract with the Predators, boasting an average annual value of $5.5 million. This decision comes as Hague was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1. Standing at an impressive 6-foot-6 and weighing 245 pounds, Hague has spent six seasons in Vegas, primarily filling a role as a third-pairing defenseman. However, in Nashville, he may find himself with increased responsibilities on a team looking to bolster its defense, especially given the limited established options beyond stars like Roman Josi and Brady Skjei.
On the other side of the trade, Jeremy Lauzon, a 28-year-old stay-at-home defenseman at 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, is expected to contribute solid defensive depth for Vegas. Lauzon is signed through next season at a $2 million cap hit. Meanwhile, Colton Sissons, 31, will also be joining the Golden Knights after spending his entire 11-year career with the Predators. Sissons, who has proven himself as a reliable center, is contractually bound for one more season with a cap hit of $2.86 million.
