Microsoft Outlook, the widely used email, contacts, and calendar platform, is experiencing significant disruptions for users globally. The company confirmed via its official Microsoft 365 Status handle on X (formerly Twitter) that it is aware of the issues and actively working to implement a fix.
Reports from Downdetector indicate that hundreds of users are facing difficulties accessing Outlook, often encountering a “Something went wrong” error and being prompted to refresh the page. The outage appears to affect multiple access points, including the Outlook website and its mobile and desktop applications.
According to Microsoft’s Service Health page, users are currently unable to access their mailboxes, regardless of the method used to connect. Meanwhile, other Microsoft 365 services, such as OneDrive, Copilot, and Whiteboard, remain fully operational.
The frustration among users has heightened, with many taking to X to express their concerns about the significant impact this has on their workflow. Some users have reported additional issues with Microsoft Teams, though that particular outage was resolved earlier.
The issue first arose around 10:20 PM UTC (3:50 AM IST), and despite Microsoft’s efforts to deploy a fix, users continue to report difficulties accessing the service. In a hopeful update, Microsoft noted that its fix is progressing quicker than expected, and they anticipate the problem will gradually improve. The company plans to provide further updates at 10:30 AM UTC (4:00 PM IST).
This current incident highlights a pattern, as Microsoft 365 faced a similar extensive outage last year, but this current disruption has lasted over 11 hours, marking one of the longest Outlook outages in recent history.
As the situation develops, users are encouraged to remain patient, and the hope is that the service will be fully restored soon, allowing for a return to normal communications.
