This Tuesday, Maine communities will commemorate Veterans Day with numerous events dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who served in the armed forces. Various ceremonies, meals, and parades will take place across the state, providing an opportunity for local residents to express their gratitude.

In Auburn, Lotus Restaurant is offering a complimentary meal to all veterans and active-duty military members from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Veterans are encouraged to make reservations at 207-241-0870. In addition, Aroma Joe’s will provide a free drink of any size to veterans on this special day.

Augusta will host a Veterans Day celebration at the VA Maine’s flagpole, welcoming all to attend from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Meanwhile, Bangor will hold a Veterans Day Parade starting from Vista Way in Brewer at 10:15 a.m. and ending on Exchange Street in Bangor. At 3 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Church will present a remembrance program reflective of the Vietnam War era.

Bath will see a ceremony led by the American Legion Post 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., complete with a lunch prepared by local Girl Scouts. Similarly, Biddeford and Saco will unite for a brief ceremony at Mechanics Park at 9:30 a.m. followed by a parade at 10 a.m., concluding with a closing ceremony at CK Burns School Park.

Throughout the day, various locations such as Great Clips and Falmouth will offer services such as free haircuts for veterans and their families, along with a luncheon at the American Legion at 65 Depot Road. Lewiston’s Veterans Day Ceremony will feature remarks from Governor Janet Mills and former U.S. House Veterans Affairs Committee Ranking Member Mike Michaud, followed by a memorial dedication.

Additionally, communities like Portland will celebrate with a parade starting at Longfellow Square at 10 a.m., while Presque Isle will host a free supper featuring local delicacies for veterans and their spouses in the evening. Various ceremonies across the state, from Skowhegan to Westbrook, will include meals, guest speakers, and other activities aimed at fostering camaraderie and remembrance among veterans and attendees.

This year’s Veterans Day in Maine promises to be a heartfelt celebration, showcasing the dedication of the community in honoring those who have served in the military. With events designed to bring people together, the spirit of gratitude and respect for veterans will resonate throughout the state, reminding us all of the sacrifices made for our freedom.
