Increasing drug use among young people has become a pressing issue, prompting Minister for Public Enterprises and Multi-Ethnic Affairs Charan Jeath Singh to reach out to religious leaders for support during Maha Shiv Ratri. The sacred night, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is not only a time for prayer but also an opportunity to provide guidance to youth in navigating harmful influences.
Singh emphasized that Maha Shiv Ratri embodies principles such as discipline, self-control, and renewal. He highlighted that the teachings of Lord Shiva, which focus on inner strength and righteousness, are essential for youth who face societal pressures and temptations.
Calling upon spiritual leaders, parents, and community elders, Singh urged them to play an active role in addressing the drug crisis during community gatherings. He suggested that sermons, discussions, and youth-focused programs should highlight the dangers of drug utilization, acting as a preventive measure against addiction.
Furthermore, Singh acknowledged the important role faith-based institutions have in shaping character and fostering resilience among young individuals. In his message, he extended warm greetings to the Indian community observing Maha Shiv Ratri and encouraged collective efforts to guide the next generation toward healthier choices and a brighter future.
