Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero has been diagnosed with a torn right oblique muscle, resulting from an injury sustained during the fourth quarter of the team’s recent victory over the Chicago Bulls. The news was announced by the team following further evaluations conducted in Cleveland, and he has been placed on indefinite leave from play. President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman revealed that Banchero will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks to gauge his recovery and readiness to return.
Banchero’s injury occurred just after he delivered a stellar performance, scoring a career-high 50 points against the Indiana Pacers, showcasing his talents and potential as one of the league’s rising stars. This season, he has been averaging an impressive 29 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. Though he reported feeling discomfort at the moment of injury, he initially hoped it would not be serious.
