Magic forwards Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner showcase complementary skill sets, but Banchero dismisses the idea that they cannot thrive together on the court. In an interview with The Athletic, Banchero expressed his strong belief in their potential as a duo, stating, “I think that’s bull—t. People are going to say whatever they want to say about me, Franz and whoever. But we know that we’re at our strongest when both of us are out there on the floor.”

Banchero also challenged the narrative that team performance improves when only one of them is playing. He remarked, “People say that the ball moves more when only one of us is out there. I don’t think that’s true, honestly.” He emphasized their consistent offensive approach, regardless of who is on the court, stating, “We play the same way every game. Nothing changes when somebody is out.”

In addition to defending their synergy, Banchero addressed his recent shooting difficulties. Prior to facing the Trail Blazers on Tuesday, he was shooting just 43.4% from the field and a career-low 23.7% from beyond the arc. He attributed part of these struggles to a groin strain that had sidelined him for ten games. “It was definitely a setback,” Banchero acknowledged. “Just frustrating. I knew coming back that, with it being a groin injury, it would take some time. But I’ve been feeling better, and I’m looking forward to just kind of taking off and really finding my feet.”

Banchero’s determination and optimism highlight his focus on improving his game and contributing to the Magic’s success. His partnership with Wagner remains a critical aspect of the team’s strategy moving forward. As the season progresses, fans are hopeful that both players can elevate their performance together, reinforcing their impact in the league.
