Magic Sign Rising Star Orlando Robinson: What to Expect?

The Orlando Magic have announced the signing of free agent center Orlando Robinson to a two-way contract, as confirmed in a recent press release. This transaction was first reported by Jason Beede from The Orlando Sentinel.

Orlando Robinson, 25, began his professional career with the Miami Heat after going undrafted from Fresno State in 2022. He has since played for multiple teams, including a stint with the Sacramento Kings at the start of the 2024/25 season before his release in January. Robinson also had a brief period with the Toronto Raptors, who released him on April 10, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Last season, Robinson played in a total of 44 games between the Kings and Raptors, achieving career-high averages of 6.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 17.5 minutes per game. His shooting percentages stood at .444 from the field, .327 from three-point range, and .771 from the free-throw line.

With this signing, Robinson joins fellow player Ethan Thompson on the Magic’s two-way contracts, although the team still has one more opening available. He is set to earn $636,435 in the upcoming season, which is half of the rookie minimum, and he can participate in up to 50 games with the Magic if the roster is at full capacity.

This signing could provide a strategic boost to the Magic’s roster as they continue to develop their talent pool, positioning them to build greater depth heading into the new season. Orlando Robinson’s rising performance stats indicate he may be a valuable asset moving forward.
