Maggie Lawson Joins the Thrilling World of “Boston Blue”!

Maggie Lawson has been announced as a series regular in CBS’s forthcoming spinoff, “Boston Blue,” which extends the popular “Blue Bloods” franchise. In this new series, Lawson will portray Sarah Silver, a superintendent in the Boston Police Department. Her character navigates the complexities of balancing her professional responsibilities with her family life.

“Boston Blue” features Donnie Wahlberg reprising his role as officer Danny Reagan, who transitions to Boston PD and partners with detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green. Lena is the eldest child in a notable law enforcement family, adding depth to the narrative.

This will not be Lawson’s first foray into law enforcement roles. She gained fame for her portrayal of Juliet O’Hara in the critically acclaimed series “Psych,” which ran for eight seasons from 2006 to 2014, followed by several film sequels. In 2024, she also starred in the Hallmark Christmas film “Sugarplummed” and collaborated with her “Psych” co-star Corbin Bernsen in the indie comedy pilot “Woodstockers.” Lawson has also appeared in various other television shows, including a leading role in Fox’s “Outmatched” and guest roles in Netflix’s “The Santa Clarita Diet” and “The Ranch,” as well as CBS’ “Two and a Half Men.”

“Boston Blue” is produced by CBS Studios in partnership with Jerry Bruckheimer Television, and showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis are set to lead the project along with Wahlberg and executive producers Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed.

With its blend of familiar faces and fresh storylines, “Boston Blue” promises to be an engaging addition to the lineup of police dramas, showcasing the experiences and challenges faced by those in law enforcement. Fans of both Lawson and the original “Blue Bloods” series will likely be excited to see how this new narrative unfolds.
