Despite critics who questioned their quick engagement—Prewett and Troutt were engaged after just three months—she emphasized their excitement about their union.
Prewett also reflected on the challenges related to maintaining their commitment to chastity before marriage. She noted that the engagement ring felt like a step closer to marriage, which tempted her to overlook their pledge to remain sexually abstinent until their wedding day. Offering advice to other engaged couples, she urged them to establish strong boundaries and seek accountability in their relationships.
One of the most challenging lessons for Prewett was learning to prioritize unity over being right. “Fight to unite and not be right,” she said, noting that it was difficult for her to accept a different perspective.
