Machine Gun Kelly’s Bold Decision: Why He Turned Down a Key Role in “Sinners”

Machine Gun Kelly recently revealed that he turned down an audition for Ryan Coogler’s film “Sinners,” a decision he made for a specific reason. During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, he explained that he was not comfortable with a particular line in the script that required him to say the N-word.

Kelly shared that he was set to audition for the role of the “second vampire,” a character involved in a pivotal and dark scene. He noted, “In the audition, he has to say the N-word and I wouldn’t do it.” The role ultimately went to Peter Dreimanis, portraying a KKK member turned vampire, while the film also starred Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, and Miles Caton. “Sinners” follows twin brothers returning to their hometown, only to confront an even greater evil than their troubled pasts.

Despite this setback in his acting career, the rapper-singer remains optimistic about his future in film. He expressed his desire to act while still looking youthful, humorously stating, “I would really like to be recruited into a movie while I still got some looks.” Kelly is committed to his aspirations, believing that “it’ll align” and that he’ll have opportunities to act in the future.

In a world where artistic integrity often conflicts with commercial demands, Kelly’s choice underscores the importance of personal values in the creative process. His positive perspective on future opportunities highlights a hopeful outlook regarding his aspirations in cinema.
