In this campaign, created for Home Instead, a company dedicated to providing in-home care for older adults, Culkin’s character faces a new challenge: protecting his mother, Kate McCallister, from potential dangers around their home.

At 45, Culkin’s reprisal of the role is heartfelt and relatable. The advertisement opens with a whimsical hand-drawn map labeled “Mom’s Safety Plan,” outlining various safety measures Kevin implements to ensure his mother’s well-being. His concerns are genuine, echoing the fears many face about aging loved ones. During a phone conversation, Kevin shares his worries about his mom’s safety, referencing the need for precautions and reminiscing about the threat of the so-called “South Bay Shovel Slayer.”
