The Chicago Bulls have officially reached an agreement with free agent guard Mac McClung, as reported by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. McClung, 26, has captured the attention of NBA fans with his impressive performances in the slam dunk contest, where he has claimed victory for the past three seasons. Despite this, his regular season play has been limited, with just six games to his name across four teams from 2021 to 2025. Last season, he was on a two-way contract with the Orlando Magic but only managed to log 10 minutes over two appearances.
In the G League, McClung has shone brightly, particularly with the Osceola Magic, where he was named MVP in the 2023-24 season and earned a spot on the All-NBAGL First Team in 2024-25. He made 44 appearances last season, showcasing his scoring ability by averaging 23.0 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds while shooting an impressive 48.1% from the field, 34.4% from three-point range, and 82.8% from the free-throw line.
Given that the Bulls currently have 15 players on guaranteed contracts and three on two-way deals, McClung’s immediate future on the team’s regular season roster remains uncertain. Should the Bulls opt to assign him to their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls would need to secure his returning rights from Osceola. If McClung signs an Exhibit 10 contract, he could earn a bonus of up to $85,300 if he remains with Windy City for at least 60 days.
This move could be a pivotal step in McClung’s career, presenting him with a valuable opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially earn a more significant role within the league.
