This week in the Grand Duchy, families can explore a wide range of activities, including creative workshops, dance, and more, making it an exciting time for visitors and residents alike.

On Monday, July 21, the iconic Grand Ducal Palace opens its doors to the public, providing a unique opportunity to visit the official residence of the grand-ducal family. Organized by the Luxembourg City Tourism Office, these 75-minute guided tours take visitors through the opulent halls of the Palace, including the Grand Duke’s office, the state dining room, and the sumptuous Salon du Roi. The tours delve into the intriguing history of the Palace, from its original function as the town hall in 1418 to its conversion into a royal residence in 1890. All proceeds from the tours go to the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess Foundation, which supports humanitarian and social causes both in Luxembourg and abroad.

On Tuesday, July 22, families seeking tranquility can participate in the ZenArt drawing workshop in Bettembourg. This creative session encourages relaxation and reconnection through drawing techniques suitable for all ages from 8 years and up, with all materials provided. The workshop promotes mindful creativity in a calm setting and will be led by Leslie Fischbach.

For adventurous children, the “Jungle Fever” special summer event at the Kannermusée PLOMM in Wiltz offers fun outdoor activities every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Kids can engage in jungle-themed games, explore play materials, and even cook in “mud kitchens.” A highlight of the event is creating seed bombs to bring greenery to grey areas, making it an excellent experience for young explorers.

Thursday, July 24, features a guided historical tour of Esch-sur-Sûre, blending local legends and natural heritage. Organized by the Naturpark Öewersauer, this two-hour walk explores the charming streets of Esch-sur-Sûre and includes a visit to the former cloth workshop, shedding light on the region’s textile history.

On Friday, July 25, the Kannermusée PLOMM hosts a playful dance workshop for children aged 4 to 12 and their parents, where participants can mimic various animal movements in a fun atmosphere. This session promotes creativity, movement, and bonding through dance, with a focus on body awareness and free expression.

On Saturday, July 26, kids are invited to an imaginative writing and drawing workshop at the Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’Art Contemporain, where they can send a postcard to their future selves, exploring themes of memory and change through art.

Finally, on Sunday, July 27, Differdange will hold a sand sculpture competition at DiffBeach for children and their families. This fun event will provide a relaxed atmosphere with music, prizes for the best creations, and a sand kit for each participant. Pre-registration is required as space is limited to 20 children.

Overall, these activities not only promise fun and togetherness but also foster creativity, learning, and community spirit among families in Luxembourg, making them ideal summer experiences.
