Luke Evans, known for his role in The Hobbit, is set to make his highly anticipated Broadway debut as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Sam Pinkleton’s revival of The Rocky Horror Show, penned by Richard O’Brien. This iconic revival, produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company, is gearing up for performances to begin on March 26, with its official opening night slated for April 23. The current run is scheduled to continue until June 21.
Pinkleton’s distinguished creative team features Ani Taj as choreographer, Kris Kukul handling music direction and orchestrations, Dots in charge of scenic design, and David I. Reynoso responsible for costumes. Furthermore, Jane Cox will provide the lighting design, Brian Ronan is taking on sound, and Alberto “Albee” Alvarado will handle hair and makeup.
In addition to the standard performance schedule, the revival will offer special night shows including a 10 PM performance on May 20 and 9 PM performances on May 30, June 13, and June 20. Audiences and fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the full cast, which is expected to be revealed shortly.
Evans, who has transitioned primarily to screen acting, boasts a rich history in musical theater. He kicked off his career in London’s West End, appearing in productions such as Taboo, Rent, Miss Saigon, and Avenue Q, along with other notable performances in fringe shows across London and at the Edinburgh Festival. His return to the stage in such an iconic role promises to bring both excitement and nostalgia for audiences.
