Lui Naisara has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Board in Fiji. Ro Filipe Tuisawau, the Minister responsible for the LTA, emphasized Naisara’s extensive experience in civil service, particularly in transport, energy, and policy development. This experience is viewed as crucial for guiding the LTA’s mission to ensure the safety of road users across Fiji.
Naisara has held numerous senior positions within the government, including roles as Deputy Secretary for Transport and Energy at the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, as well as the Ministry of Works, Transport and Energy. Minister Tuisawau noted that Naisara’s appointment not only highlights his proven leadership but also his comprehensive understanding of the transport sector’s challenges and opportunities. Tuisawau expressed confidence that under Naisara’s leadership, the LTA will continue to evolve into a more modern, responsive, and people-centric organization.
Naisara’s academic credentials are equally impressive, holding a Master’s degree in Transport Management from the University of Sydney, a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the South Pacific, alongside a Diploma in Transport Management and Planning from Galilee College, Israel. These qualifications complement his pragmatic experience, aligning well with the responsibilities he will undertake as Chairman.
This leadership change comes at a vital time, coinciding with broader governmental efforts, led by figures such as Assistant Minister for Transport Naisa Tuinaceva, to enhance Fiji’s transportation infrastructure. Initiatives are underway to address critical issues like traffic congestion, particularly in the Suva-Nausori corridor. Such plans include upgrading road networks and exploring innovative public transport options, such as electric buses, which align with the country’s commitment to modernizing its transport systems and enhancing socio-economic opportunities.
Naisara’s stewardship is anticipated to bolster these ongoing efforts, providing a strong foundation for the LTA to execute its strategic goals efficiently and effectively. With his leadership, there is a hopeful outlook for significant advancements in Fiji’s transport infrastructure, ultimately uplifting the quality of life for all citizens.
