Lucid Gravity has initiated its first recall, affecting 66 of its new 2026 model-year SUVs shortly after deliveries commenced. This recall is not related to high-voltage components or software issues but emanates from a supply chain error. A mislabeling of the front seatback covers could compromise the correct deployment of side airbags during an accident.
The recall is specific to 66 Gravity vehicles produced between September 8 and September 22, 2025. Lucid estimates that approximately 40% of these vehicles may feature the defect, prompting the need for inspections across the board. The potential issue arises if a seat trim piece is incorrectly placed, which could hinder the airbag’s proper function in the event of a crash. This situation appears to stem from a process misstep rather than a fundamental flaw in the vehicle’s engineering.
To address the situation, Lucid will provide free inspections and repairs for affected owners. Service centers will evaluate the front seats and replace any mislabeled covers or trim found. Notifications to vehicle owners are scheduled for early February 2026, with the repair process implemented in stages. Moreover, Lucid has already adjusted its production protocols, ensuring that suppliers are subjected to stricter oversight and additional checks moving forward. This proactive step is aimed at preventing similar issues in the future and underscores the company’s commitment to vehicle safety and quality.
